1930's Chair

1930s chair

A good, mid-size 1930's chair reupholstered in our old favourite 'Burnt Orange' leather. This chair could have looked exactly as it does now just before WWII ! Price: £1295.

19th Century Chair

19th Century chair

A very deep 19th Cent Chair. It has a 31" deep seat cushion - more of a day bed for most Victorians I would have thought ! Original bun feet & castors add to the character. Just a little family use and the passage of time needed to break this big chap in.

19th Century Library/Study Chair

19th Century Library/Study chair chair

A nicely proportioned library/study chair from the 19th Century. A good, solid frame made this one a joy to reupholster, with it's tub-shaped lower back and rising support for the shoulders. Perhaps more comfortable for a lady than a chap. £1350.

Early 20th Century Chair

Early C20 chair

Original bun feet with ceramic and brass castors are a very nice functional detail of this early 20th Cent chair. A robust and comfortable chair with very nice nailing across the top edges - every one put in by hand !

Kilim Sofa

Kilim Sofa

220cm long Kilim Sofa, based on the Lansdown shape but slightly taller in the back. This one was upholstered by a kilim specialist a few years ago and has a lovely, antique feel to it. Priced at £2500. Do call to discuss and do have a look at our own Kilim Lansdown Chair here.

Late 1930s Chairs

late 30s chairs

A large, handsome pair of chairs, late 1930's, with nice and chunky, oak bun feet. Our classic 'Burnt Orange' leather is very characterful and absolutely made for this style. £3200 the pair.

Splendid Chair

splendid chair

A rare and fascinating 19th century 'reverse' reading chair. Much of the leather upholstery is in good, original condition although we have restored the seat panel. The book prop elevates up to it's 'reading' position and hinges backwards when not in use. A beautiful, English library chair and great conversation piece ! £1950.

Buttoned Edwardian Sofa

A nicely sized Edwardian sofa with exceptional buttoning detail, 74" Long x 32" Deep x 29" High, with a lowish back that makes it very comfortable for reading. A good study or library piece, fully renovated by LCB. £1795.

Splendid 30's

Sometimes, a renovation job can turn out better results than expected. Certainly this 1930's chair has blossomed into a splendid leather creation from it's original tired, fabric-covered state - I have the photographs to prove it! £1400.

Howard Style

Very handsome, 'Howard' style, Victorian chair. Deep 'stuffover' seat, and with beautiful scooped arms. This one already has a good antique look to the leather and will continue to improve. It has retained it's brass/porcelain castors. Priced at £1450.

French Armchair

Renovated from within an inch of it's life or 'vie', this chair has spent far too much time in a Loire barn and now should be roaming free in your house ! You can pick out it's previous life portrait in our 'archive' section on these pages - the button configuration being the clue. Currently awaiting a rodeo-style breaking-in process to begin it's new life. £1350.

3-Seater Amsterdam Sofas

We have a pair of these 3-seater Amsterdam sofas, nicely knocked-in after a few years use. Beautiful colour and patina developing, they ought to stay together but we will consider splitting them. Please call to discuss, or drop me an email.

Matched Pair

The second chair of the intriguing pair ! If ever a chair could be a conversation piece then this one is positively outspoken ! Increasingly hard to find...POA.
Antique Pair

One of a matched pair that we have sympathetically restored. Lots of late 19th/early 20th century detail in original condition. It's really quite rare to find such characterful leather upholstery in decent order. Not for robust family use, though ! And there is a stool that belongs to the set. POA - please drop me a line or give us a call for a chat about these.
Large Victorian Armchair

Who said the Victorians were smaller than us ? This great chair with a 28" deep seat suggests otherwise - Brunel could have slept in this ! Nice legs and original casters with brass trim. £1450.

Early 20th Century French Chair

Rescued from a barn in the Loire and completely refurbished by LCB. Comes with a feint whiff of Charolais and Gauloise. £1250.

Other French chairs, including a 'moustache pair' (see 'Archive') to be done when workshop time allows.

English Armchair

37" Deep x 35" Wide x 34" High, this completely rejuvenated Victorian armchair has good depth, bun feet and original porcelain & brass casters. Splash a drop of Port and flick some cigar ash over a chair that has a great past but needs a little encouragement to get started on it's future! £1350
Medium Deep and Buttoned

This armchair, with a deep-buttoned back, has good depth and comfort without being too enormous. Do please call for measurements. £1350.
Sexy Pair

A very curvy pair of 1930's chairs - completely refurbished by LCB. I'd be
happy to keep these.......£2600. Sexy furniture !
Epsom Chairs

A pair of Early 20th Century French armchairs (on later casters). £1650.

Library Chair

Late 19th Century library chair with deep-buttoned back and beautiful, sweeping arms. Excellent 'Elizabethan' legs with original casters: porcelain on the front and brass on the back. Appropriate deep oxblood leather. £1250.00
Victorian Armchair

A Victorian armchair completely refurbished by LCB. Requiring a
few splashes of port and brandy and a dusting of billiard cue chalk to get
the 'breaking-in' period started ! £1100.
French Chairs

late 19c chair

Recently, I purchased these chairs from a dealer in Lille, Northern France. Although they are excellent, characterful chairs their original condition is beyond most peoples' idea of house-worthy!
We intend to do the full LCB restoration on these collectors' pieces to see if our customers are ready for the great, French 'Moustache' chair!

Victorian Armchair

late 19c chair

It always astonishes me how deep Victorian armchairs can be. This is probably the deepest we have reupholstered - the seat is nearly 30" ! The 'bullnose' is a nice feature and the overhanging arms are unusual and look great with the nailing - every one hammered in individually. No nail 'strips' here, thank you ! Priced at £1350.
Beautiful Victorian Chesterfield

late 19c chair

Beautiful Victorian Chesterfield reupholstered by LCB in our dark 'Burnt Orange' leather. Turned legs & casters, comfortably sprung seat and back. 7 feet long x 34" deep x 29" high. £2750.
Late 19th Century Chair

late 19c chair

Good shape to the arms, nice turn to the legs. Combine this with one of our Lansdown footstools to achieve maximum comfort. Late 19th Century Chair with the full LCB reupholstery treatment. £1250.
Late Victorian 'Highhead' Chair

Late Victorian 'Highhead' Chair

A question often asked of LCB... is there a chair that isn't too high but will support the head? This is it! A late-Victorian chair with a deep seat and the extra few inches on the back to do what most low, deep chairs of this period don't! Completely reupholstered by LCB: £1250.00
Herman Miller made, design by Charles Eames,
"soft pad" series chairs

Herman Miller made, Eames "soft pad" series chairs

A pair of Herman Miller made, design by Charles Eames, "soft pad" series chairs. Manufactured approx. mid-1970's and with unusual use of dark brown leather rather than black. £1500 for the pair.
1940's Sofa

1940's Sofa

1940's sofa in near-original condition. Enhanced by LCB to include new springing, new cushions and a couple of new leather panels. Good shabby appeal but perhaps not suitable for overly-robust family use ! £995.
19th Century 'tub' chair

19th Century 'tub' chair

Lovely 19th Century deep-buttoned tub chair. Not huge but very comfortable. Restored from poor condition by LCB, retaining the characterful baluster legs and original casters - £995.
Early 20th Century 'tub' chair

Early 20th Century 'tub' chair

Early 20th Century 'tub' chair. Fully reupholstered by LCB in a 'red tan' leather keeping the original lines of the unusual piping. Nicely priced at £645 - that's £100 cheaper than our new Amsterdam chairs !
Victorian 'bull-nose' Armchair

Victorian 'bull-nose' Armchair

Victorian 'bull-nose' armchair in the 'Howard' tradition. More upright and
back-supporting than our (new) Lansdown chair, not too high but with good
leg length. Completely reupholstered by Leather Chairs of Bath.
Price £1250 (inc. VAT).
Late 19th century Armchair

Late 19th century Armchair

Turned legs and original casters on this late 19th century armchair, fully
restored by LCB. Just add fireside comfort and brandy!
Price £1150 (inc. VAT).
Mid-Victorian Chair with 'roll-top'

Mid-Victorian Chair with 'roll-top'

Another chair that we have stripped right down and re-upholstered in leather, our 'Faded Burnt Orange' colour. Unfortunately the original castors were not retrievable and have been replaced with a solid brass set. This chair has a very interesting 'roll-top' design that has been preserved perfectly by our chaps in the workshop.
Price: £1250 (inc. VAT).

1930 Beauties!

1930 Beauties!

A good pair of 1930's armchairs completely refurbished by us. Comfortable but not enormous, they are priced at £1950 for the pair (inc. VAT).

Early Victorian Chesterfield

Early Victorian ChesterfieldEarly Victorian Chesterfield

A beautiful example of an early Victorian Chesterfield with buttoned back and stuffover seat. Again, re-upholstered from the frame up but with rare, and well preserved, large porcelain castors (see detail).
Price: £3500 (inc. VAT).
Mid-Victorian Armchair

Mid-Victorian Armchair Mid-Victorian Armchair

This mid-Victorian armchair has been completely refurbished but still retains it's original castors. It has new deep-coil springs and webbing and has been finished using our hand-dyed hide, coloured in a faded 'burnt-orange'. The work has restored it's handsome lines and comfort will continue to improve as the chair is 'broken in'.
Price £995 (inc. VAT).
Mid-Victorian Armchair

Mid-Victorian Armchair Mid-Victorian Armchair

A much later club Chesterfield Chair - we reckon mid 20th century ! - but in excellent (and original) shabby condition ! A bargain at £625, especially if you prefer immediate delivery to the 10 week wait for our new leather furniture !
Before & After...

Before...& After...

This is a Victorian armchair delivered to us in poor general condition. We stripped it down to the frame, sprayed it for woodworm and tightened up the loose joints. The reupholstery began with new springs and webbing and finished with our hand-dyed leather, coloured to the customers preference.
An impressive transformation that we were very pleased with ! We can advise on the cost/feasibilty of similar work on chairs or sofas in need of restoration using just a photograph or two, posted or e-mailed.
